Chapter 22 - WHAT DAVID FINALLY CHOSE
David resigned from the Bennett Family Holdings board.
Not because anyone demanded it.
Because he said he could no longer vote beside Evelyn as though this were an ordinary family dispute.
It cost him.
His voting rights in certain entities changed.
His relationship with relatives deteriorated.
He could no longer pretend neutrality.
I watched carefully.
For months he had apologized when apologies were cheap.
This decision had a price.
That made it different.
Then he did something harder.
He submitted a sworn statement detailing every unauthorized transaction he knew about.
Including the ones that implicated him.
He admitted signing beside my forged signature.
He admitted approving a withdrawal from Lily’s account.

I read the statement twice.
It hurt.

The Florida condo arrangement.
Patricia’s businesses.
Olivia’s inflated wedding expenses.
Corporate debt coverage.
And transfers whose final use remained unclear.
One account still bothered Marcus.

It received $165,000.
Then transferred $160,000 to a brokerage account.
Owner information was not in ordinary company files.
Court-authorized discovery eventually produced the account holder.
Evelyn Bennett.
Again.
Not Patricia.
Not a lender.
Evelyn.
The brokerage remained largely intact.
That mattered.
Some money could potentially be recovered.
Then came the Information Twist.
Evelyn had not spent everything.

This was not only desperation or lifestyle.
