Chapter 10 - The House Was Never Dana’s

Two weeks later, Allison left the hospital with both twins.
She did not return to the suburban house.
Colonel Hale arranged temporary housing near the military medical center.
Eric’s attorney claimed Allison had abandoned the property.
Her lawyer responded with the recording of Eric ordering her into the snow.
The property transfer was invalidated.
The notary admitted Dana never witnessed Allison’s signature.
Wallace Crowley had ordered the seal placed on the forged document.
The house legally belonged entirely to Allison.
Her father purchased it before the marriage and placed it in her name.
Eric had never owned it.
Dana’s declaration that Allison stood in “her house” had been arrogance built on fraud.
Allison refused to move back until specialists searched every room.
They found hidden cameras in the living room, bedroom, kitchen, and nursery.
Eric had recorded her throughout pregnancy.
Clips showed Allison struggling up stairs.
Crying after painful appointments.
Sleeping after long workdays.
He labeled the files:
UNSTABLE EPISODE.
MATERNAL NEGLECT.
EMOTIONAL BREAKDOWN.
Some footage was months old.
Eric had begun constructing the custody case before the twins were born.
Another folder contained recordings from Allison’s private telehealth appointments with her military therapist.
Eric had accessed the calls through the home network.
One video showed Allison alone in the nursery folding pale blue blankets.
She whispered to her unborn sons:
“I promise you will always feel safe here.”
Eric labeled the clip:
EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENT—USEFUL FOR LEVERAGE.
Allison closed the computer.
The house belonged to her legally.
But it no longer felt like a home.
She sold it.
With the proceeds, she purchased a smaller brick house near the military base.
No grand foyer.
No hidden cameras.
No rooms filled with staged evidence.
Only secure doors, warm light, and a nursery overlooking maple trees.
Then the custody hearing began.
