Chapter 9 - Dana’s Confession

Dana admitted the affair began eleven months earlier.

Her father introduced her to Eric during negotiations with Grant Defense Consulting.

Eric described Allison as emotionally absent and obsessed with military duty.

He said he deserved control of the company because he handled its daily operations.

Dana saw an opportunity.

If Eric gained Allison’s shares, Crowley Capital could purchase Grant Defense at a fraction of its value.

Dana helped forge signatures.

She supported the plan to intercept the command letter.

She participated in staging the confrontation.

But she claimed the shove was not planned.

Allison’s eyes hardened.

“You placed both hands against my chest.”

“I was angry.”

“You knew I had just undergone surgery.”

“I know.”

“You expected me to collapse.”

Dana began crying.

“I’m not asking forgiveness.”

“Good.”

The flash drive contained messages between Eric and Wallace Crowley.

Wallace instructed Eric to secure sole custody before the twins were thirty days old.

Eric wrote:

ALLISON WILL BREAK WHEN SHE THINKS SHE IS LOSING THE CHILDREN.

Wallace responded:

IF SHE DOESN’T, CREATE THE MEDICAL CRISIS WE NEED.

Allison read the words twice.

“What medical crisis?”

Dana swallowed.

“Eric wanted you provoked into losing control.”

“By having you injure me?”

“I didn’t know how far he planned to go.”

“But you knew he wanted an emergency.”

“Yes.”

The plan had been precise.

Lorraine would take one carrier.

Eric would grab Allison’s phone.

Dana would provoke her.

If Allison reacted physically, they would record it.

If her incision opened, they would claim she injured herself during a breakdown.

Only Colonel Hale’s arrival stopped them.

Allison looked toward him.

“Why were you at the house?”

Hale removed an old folded note from his pocket.

Her late father, General Samuel Grant, had asked him to watch over Allison if Eric ever tried to isolate her from the company.

Hale had respected the marriage and stayed away.

But when Allison’s command letters were repeatedly returned without response, he became suspicious.

He came to deliver the final copy personally.

“My father never trusted Eric.”

“He trusted you,” Hale replied. “He feared you would endure too much before asking for help.”

Dana’s phone vibrated.

A message from Wallace appeared.

DO NOT SPEAK TO GRANT. YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO PEOPLE WHO BETRAY FAMILY.

Dana’s face went pale.

Allison did not forgive her.

But she allowed federal agents to hear her confession.

👉 Dana had exposed Eric—but the threat from her father proved the most powerful person behind the conspiracy was still free.
