Chapter 3

PART 3:
The first time Julian hurt her, he cried afterward.
He said stress made him lose control.
He said he hated himself.
He said it would never happen again.
Iris believed him because she wanted to.
The second time, he blamed her tone.
The third, he blamed the wine.
After that, he stopped giving reasons.
He simply expected her silence.
And Iris learned what survival looked like inside a beautiful house.
Long sleeves in July.
Makeup over bruises.
Smiles at charity dinners.
Careful answers in front of friends.
Julian never looked cruel in public.
In public, he placed his hand on her back.
At home, that same hand shoved her into walls.
In public, he called her brilliant.
At home, he called her weak.
In public, he said she was the heart of the company.
At home, he said no one would believe a “fragile woman with anxiety” over a man like him.
Then came the papers.
Julian said they were routine corporate documents.
He said investors needed a cleaner ownership structure.
He said Iris was too overwhelmed to deal with legal details.
“Just sign here,” he told her.
She hesitated.
His eyes darkened.
That night, he broke a glass against the kitchen wall inches from her face.
The next morning, she signed.
By the time she understood what had happened, her shares had been transferred into a holding company Julian controlled.
Her access to company accounts was reduced.
Her board vote was limited.
Her own office assistant started sending reports to Julian first.
He had not stolen her company in one night.
May you like
He had taken it piece by piece while telling everyone she needed rest.
👉 But when Julian brought another woman into the company, Iris finally saw the full plan…
