Chapter 3 - THE PROMISE

Juny believed she had agreed to a blood test for family history.

Eleanor told her Davina was sick and might die.

She said I would refuse because I was selfish.

She said a good granddaughter protected the family.

Juny cried as she explained.

“I wanted to help.”

“You did nothing wrong.”

“They said if I told you, Grandpa’s cottage would be sold.”

The manipulation was exact.

Juny loved the cottage because my father taught her to fish there before he died.

Eleanor used memory as leverage.

The clinic records showed repeated visits.

Three blood draws.

Ultrasound imaging.

Psychological screening.

One evaluator wrote:

MINOR APPEARS COMPLIANT BUT MATERNAL ATTACHMENT MAY INTERFERE.

My attachment to my child was described as an obstacle.

Sofia filed for an emergency injunction.

The court froze the trust and barred Eleanor or Davina from contacting Juny without supervision.

Eleanor called me cruel.

Davina called me dramatic.

Neither called Juny.

Then the clinic director, Dr. Samuel Vale, claimed I authorized everything.

He produced video of me signing consent.

The woman on screen looked like me.

Same brown hair.

Same voice.

But I had never worn the red scarf visible in the footage.

Davina owned one exactly like it.

Facial analysis revealed subtle differences.

The woman was my cousin Laura Harper.

We resembled each other enough for distant cameras.

Laura admitted Eleanor paid her to impersonate me.

She thought the tests were routine.

The consent page included surgical language she never read.

Another woman used.

Another signature weaponized.

Then police searched Eleanor’s hotel suite.

Inside were Juny’s medical records, transplant brochures, and a prepaid ticket to Boston.
