Chapter 4 - THE BOSTON APPOINTMENT

The Boston appointment was at Ashbourne Pediatric Research Center.

Publicly, it specialized in rare diseases.

Privately, it coordinated “family-directed donations.”

Sofia obtained internal emails.

Eleanor wrote:

Rachel will object after the appendectomy scare. We need Juny moved while she is weak and emotionally dependent.

The appendectomy was not expected.

But they planned to use her recovery.

Davina replied:

Tell her it’s a follow-up. Once she signs in Boston, Rachel can’t stop it.

My sister had participated directly.

When confronted, Davina cried.

She said fear of dying changed her.

She insisted she never intended to force surgery.

The forms disagreed.

A provisional partial-liver donation date was already reserved.

Juny would turn fifteen in three months.

The center’s policy allowed minor family donation under court approval.

Eleanor had arranged a private guardianship petition claiming I was emotionally unstable.

The smiling lake photograph would support the story.

The family looked peaceful without us.

I looked disruptive.

The restaurant collapse had been framed as another episode of my daughter “making a scene.”

They were building a public narrative before court.

Then the restaurant manager gave me security footage.

Before Juny collapsed, Eleanor slipped something into her water.

A white powder.

Toxicology found a sedative in Juny’s blood.

The drug did not cause the ruptured appendix.

But it weakened her, delayed her pain response, and made her easier to control.

My mother had drugged my daughter at lunch.

Eleanor denied it.

Then the hospital bracelet from the genetic clinic revealed trace residue matching the sedative.

It had been used more than once.

Juny’s silence had been chemically encouraged.
