Chapter 1 - The Restaurant Assault

Victor grabbed my hair with sudden, brutal physical force.
He slammed my face down toward the dinner table.
Horrified restaurant diners froze in pure, silent visual shock.
"Bow when my mother speaks to you!" Victor roared.
My cream blazer was soaked with spilled red wine.
His mother Lorraine calmly drank from her crystal glass.
She smiled with cruel satisfaction at my weeping face.
"That's how you discipline your wife," Lorraine whispered.
Tears of deep shame and pain flooded my eyes.
My retired judge mother Margaret set down her napkin.
Margaret stood up slowly with calm, commanding authority today.
"Enough," my mother Margaret said in a quiet voice.
Victor turned toward Margaret with a mocking evil grin.
"Sit down, old woman, this is family business!"
Margaret calmly looked toward the restaurant manager standing nearby.
She gave a subtle, decisive nod to the manager.
The manager immediately locked all the front exit doors.
"Exactly why everyone is staying," Margaret declared coldly.
Victor slowly released my hair as security officers stepped in.
