Chapter 6 - The Account That Should Not Exist

The account changed everything.
Because Julian had always claimed he never touched my family’s money.
Now the evidence showed otherwise.
The FBI discovered transactions going back two years.
Long before Chloe.
Long before the baby shower.
Long before I knew something was wrong.
Julian had been planning.
Not reacting.
Planning.
I looked at him.
“How long?”
He didn’t answer.
That was enough.
The agents continued searching.
Then they found something else.
A private email chain.
Between Julian and Arthur.
His father.
Arthur’s face changed when his name appeared.
“I can explain.”
Nobody believed him.
Because explanations always came after the truth was discovered.
The emails showed Arthur knew about the plan.
He approved it.
He encouraged it.
He believed Clara was too emotional to fight back.
I laughed quietly.
Not because it was funny.
Because I finally understood.
They never saw me as a person.
Only a possession.
Then one agent walked toward me.
“Mrs. Vance, we found something in Julian’s private office.”
He handed me a photograph.
It was taken three weeks earlier.
Julian standing beside a document.
A custody agreement.
Already signed.
