The recording continued.
Daniel kept talking.
Angry people always talked too much.
He blamed Lorraine.
Lorraine blamed him.
And between the accusations, the truth appeared.
They had planned to pressure me.
They had planned to make me sign.
They had planned to claim the apartment was a family asset.
But then Daniel said something that made the room silent.
“She was never supposed to fight back.”
I looked at him.
He knew exactly what he meant.
He underestimated me.
That was his mistake.
My attorney saved the recording.
Then he asked me one question.
“Are you ready to take this further?”
I looked at Daniel.
At Lorraine.
At the broken plate.
“Yes.”
Then Daniel smiled.
Not because he was confident.
Because he had another card.
