Sophie lived at a private boarding residence outside Richmond.
An embryo had been created from my frozen eggs and Grant’s genetic material without my consent. The Monroe family trust required a direct descendant before Grant turned forty-one. Without one, his company shares reverted to employee ownership.
Sophie was a corporate key.
Judith planned to reveal her after the divorce and claim I had abandoned my daughter. Claire’s videos would support the lie.
Independent advocates took Sophie into protection. Our first meeting happened through glass.
She knew my face from training videos.
She called Claire “Practice Mom.”
She looked at me and asked, “Are you the one who gets to stay?”
I answered, “No one should disappear for someone else to stay.”
Then another document appeared.
