Chapter 3 - THE CHAMPAGNE GLASS

Reception video showed Linda carrying my champagne flute before the ceremony.
She claimed she moved it away from the edge of the table.
Another angle showed her adding drops from a silver vial.
The drug dulled pain and delayed my collapse.
She wanted me to remain standing long enough for the marriage certificate to be signed.
Only after the legal marriage did the incapacity clause activate.
Linda had not merely blamed me for ruining the wedding.
She needed the wedding completed before my body failed.
Daniel watched the footage.
Then vomited in the hospital bathroom.
His horror looked real.
His ignorance did not erase his carelessness.
He had signed documents without reading.
Trusted his mother over my medical privacy.
Allowed Claire into the room.
Every shortcut had become a weapon.
Claire contacted the police through an encrypted message.
She claimed the capsule inside me contained only copies.
The original estate file remained hidden.
She had placed the capsule through a corrupt surgical technician because she believed Linda’s people would search the hospital.
Another private rescue performed on my body without consent.
I told police I wanted Claire charged too.
Protection was not permission.
Then Linda’s attorney produced a video of me drinking from another glass.
A glass carried by Daniel.
Had he also drugged me?
The footage zoomed in.
Daniel added something to my drink.
He began crying before anyone asked.
“It was anti-nausea medication.”
“Who gave it to you?”
“My mother.”
Two substances.
One husband obeying.
One mother planning.
The toxicology expert said the combination made the rupture more dangerous.
Then my post-operative bloodwork revealed a third drug.
A paralytic.
Administered after surgery.
