The sealed report existed.
Nathan was not Dany’s biological father.
Before our marriage, I underwent fertility treatment after a medical emergency.
A clinic stored genetic material without proper consent.
Years later, an embryo was transferred during a procedure I believed treated endometriosis.
Nathan discovered the truth only after Dany’s birth.
The paternal sample belonged to Robert Parker.

The man who stood silently by the grill.

Robert denied knowledge.
Independent records showed his sample had been collected during cancer treatment.
He never authorized its use.
Margaret had arranged the embryo transfer.

She could not control him.

Only that his father loved him.
Robert stepped away from the family.

“I will be whatever role keeps him safe,” he said.
That was more responsible than possession.

He knew Margaret planned the barbecue test before his death.
“How?” I asked Evelyn.
