Chapter 7 - JASON BROOKS
Jason was Margaret’s biological son.
Born when she was seventeen.
Placed for adoption to protect the Parker family reputation.
She later found him and brought him into the family as a “trusted investigator.”
Chelsea’s affair with Jason had not been accidental.
Margaret encouraged it.
If Chelsea had a child with Jason, the boy would carry Margaret’s direct bloodline while appearing inside the Parker household.
Carter had been engineered as a future heir.
Jason was both Chelsea’s lover and her secret half brother.
The revelation shattered Chelsea.
She vomited in the lake house bathroom.
Michael sat outside holding Carter.
No one told the child details.
Only that adults had lied and none of it was his fault.
Chelsea turned on Margaret completely.
“She knew.”
“Yes.”
“She let me—”
“Yes.”
Chelsea’s shame did not erase what she did to Dany.
But her loyalty to Margaret ended.
She gave police a hidden storage address Jason once used.
Inside were photographs of Nathan’s car, brake-line tools, and payments from Margaret.
There was also a recording of Jason confronting Nathan.
Nathan said:
“Lucy will learn what you are.”
Jason answered:
“She’ll never believe you over her mother.”
Nathan replied:
“She stopped believing Margaret years ago. She just hasn’t admitted it.”
The final file showed Jason tampering with Nathan’s vehicle.
Police issued a murder warrant.
Then Margaret disappeared.
Her car was found near the river.
Inside was one shoe and a note.
LUCY DROVE ME TO THIS.
