Chapter 8 - THE FALSE NOTE
The note matched my handwriting because Margaret had stolen pages from my childhood journals.
A forensic analyst found copied letter shapes.
The river scene was staged.
No body.
No footprints beyond the car.
Margaret wanted to become a victim and make me the suspect.
Police searched my house.
Reporters gathered outside.
The family split again.
Some relatives who laughed at Dany now called me dangerous.
The same people who ignored cruelty became suddenly passionate about appearances.
Then the barbecue camera provided another angle.
After we left, Margaret told Chelsea:
“Lucy always chooses emotion. That is why she can never control the trust.”
She had studied me for years.
Every public insult was designed to produce a reaction.
I stopped reacting on her schedule.
Instead, Evelyn filed the trust correction.
Firstborn status.
Fraudulent adoption records.
Nathan’s evidence.
The court froze every Parker asset.
Margaret could not access money.
Jason could not receive payments.
Then Carter found a folded paper inside his backpack.
A map of the river warehouse.
He said Grandma gave it to him and told him to keep it secret.
Chelsea began crying.
Margaret had used Carter as a courier.
Again.
Police searched the warehouse.
They found Margaret alive.
And Jason dead.
A gun lay beside her.
She claimed self-defense.
But Jason’s phone held a scheduled message:
May you like
IF I DIE, MARGARET KILLED NATHAN TOO.
