Chapter 10 - The House Camera
Elijah’s home-security system had been disabled for forty-two minutes before dinner.
Cassandra claimed the network failed.
A hidden backup camera in the garage proved otherwise.
Leonard entered through the side door carrying a medical case.
He left thirty minutes later.
Elijah had been in his home office during the visit.
Cassandra told him she was meeting a decorator.
He never came downstairs.
The footage showed Leonard handing Cassandra the syringe.
He demonstrated how to inject it.
Then he gave her a second bottle.
Detective Price froze the frame.
“What is that?”
Naomi examined the bottle on-screen.
“It may be the rescue dose.”
Police had not found it on Cassandra.
If Toby had received it immediately, he might never have reached the hospital.
Cassandra admitted Leonard took the rescue bottle back.
He planned to arrive later and administer it publicly.
But Toby deteriorated faster than expected.
Elijah panicked and drove directly to St. Andrews.
Leonard lost control of the timing.
That decision may have saved Toby.
Elijah sat beside his son.
“I finally did one thing right.”
Naomi looked at him.
“You brought him here.”
He nodded.
It was not redemption.
But it mattered.
Police reached the abandoned research building before dawn.
The main laboratory had been set on fire.
Leonard was gone.
Inside a metal cabinet, investigators found old Trial 6 records.
They also found a list of children.
Toby’s name was first.
Five other names followed.
Each child had a parent connected to Sherman Biotech.
