Marcus Reed told investigators everything.
Vanessa paid him thirty thousand dollars.
His job was to create an “incident” at Ethan’s job site.

“No one was supposed to die.”
Detective Monroe stared at him.
“You drove a twelve-ton truck toward active scaffolding.”
Marcus looked down.

The brakes had not failed.
