The phone contained years of messages.
Aiden had instructed Madeline when to create the trust.
Which documents to sign.
How to describe Alice as emotionally fragile.
When to move money.
He had even promised to marry Madeline once Alice signed the divorce agreement.
But a more recent message told a different story.
After the transfer closes, I’ll restructure everything. M won’t retain control.
Madeline read it twice.
“What does that mean?”
Aiden’s eyes shifted away.
Daniel answered carefully.
“It appears he intended to remove you after using your trust.”
Madeline’s face went white.
Alice felt no sympathy for the woman who had mocked her pregnancy.
But she recognized the pattern.
Aiden loved people only while they were useful.
Madeline handed the phone to her attorney.
Aiden reached for it.
Court security stepped between them.
“Give that back!” he shouted.
Madeline recoiled.
The elegant, superior woman from the courthouse steps was gone.
“You were going to leave me too.”
Aiden looked from Madeline to Alice.
Both women now possessed evidence against him.
“This is all being misunderstood.”
Alice almost laughed.
For twelve years, he had controlled every conversation by convincing her she misunderstood.
Now documents, recordings, signatures, and account transfers spoke without him.
The divorce could not be finalized that day.
Instead, the court ordered full financial disclosure and preserved the disputed property.
