Chapter 18 - The Mother He Tried to Discredit

Aiden continued fighting for leverage.
He submitted the “Maternal Concerns” file and demanded shared custody immediately after the baby’s birth.
But Daniel presented the dates.
Aiden had created the first entry four days after moving assets into Madeline’s trust.
He had photographed Alice sleeping during a medically difficult pregnancy.
He had described normal grief as instability.
He had excluded her from meetings, then labeled her uninformed.
He had threatened to use poverty and custody unless she signed.
Joyce testified about Aiden’s behavior.
Alice’s obstetrician confirmed that fatigue, anxiety, and reduced activity were medically expected.
The custody consultant admitted Aiden had never disclosed his affair, financial transfers, or threats.
The file he created to destroy Alice’s credibility instead demonstrated calculated coercion.
Outside the hearing room, Aiden approached her.
“You’re taking my son from me.”
Alice stood with both hands over her stomach.
“No. Your choices are determining how much trust you’ll have to rebuild.”
“You planned this.”
“I protected myself.”
“You embarrassed me in front of everyone.”
Alice looked at him calmly.
“You humiliated me in private for years. You only care now because there were witnesses.”
Aiden’s anger collapsed into silence.

He finally understood that the frightened woman he had expected to sign on command no longer existed.
👉 Months later, Alice returned to the courthouse carrying her newborn son—and this time, Aiden had no mistress, no hidden company, and no lie left to protect him.
