Daniel agreed.
He refused to release Lily’s medical information simply to protect his reputation.
He would not turn his daughter’s pain into public entertainment.
Vanessa counted on that.
Her lawyer suggested the leaked video proved Daniel was exactly the man described in Margaret’s petition.
Then police confirmed something important.
The copy sent to media came from Vanessa’s cloud account.
She had leaked evidence connected to an active investigation.
Worse, forensic analysis demonstrated the clip had been trimmed.
Investigators possessed the baby-monitor original.

Vanessa striking Lily.

Authorities did not publicly release the entire child-abuse footage.
But prosecutors described the context in court filings.
The narrative began changing.
Then a former Carter nanny contacted Daniel’s attorney.
Her name was Sophie Reed.
Vanessa fired her five months earlier.
Daniel had been told Sophie repeatedly ignored household rules.
The truth was different.
Sophie had questioned why Lily became frightened whenever Vanessa prepared meals alone.
She noticed Margaret giving Vanessa instructions about when Daniel would return.
One afternoon Sophie discovered a phone hidden on a shelf recording the dining area.
