Chapter 9 - THE TERRACE

The attempted killing case depended on more than my word.
Leonor claimed I climbed onto the railing during a hysterical confrontation and fell.
Physical evidence disagreed.
Rope abrasions circled my wrists.
Fibers matched the recovered rope.
Her DNA and mine were both found where expected from handling.
The terrace camera did not cover the entire confrontation.
But an exterior security camera captured my body falling over the railing.
It also captured the rope being thrown down seconds later.
Then Nicolás entering.
The sequence matched my account.
The stone railing had transfer marks consistent with the struggle.
My injuries were consistent with a fall.
Leonor’s claim became untenable.
She changed strategy.
She said she tied me because I attacked her.
