Chapter 8 - The Security Proof
Officer Davis walked into the sunlit marble foyer space.
He looked up at the ceiling above the door.
A small black security dome camera was mounted high.
The tiny red indicator light was flashing steadily on.
"Does this camera record audio and video, sir?"
"Yes, high-definition four K resolution," I answered.
"It records continuously to a secure cloud server network."
I unlocked my phone, opening the live camera archives.
I handed the mobile device directly to Officer Davis.
The officer pressed play on the timestamped video file.
The video showed my mother Margaret sitting in chair.
It showed my pregnant wife Elena kneeling on marble.
It captured Margaret shouting: "Scrub harder!"
It showed Margaret pressing her bare foot on shoulder.
It showed Lucas standing nearby, recording with his phone.
The clear, undeniable physical evidence was displayed for all.
Silence fell over the luxury foyer like heavy stone.
Officer Davis's face turned into dark, lethal disgust.
He handed the phone back into my hands carefully.
He turned his head slowly toward Margaret and Lucas.
Margaret's fake crying stopped instantly on the spot.
Her jaw hung open in total, speechless, horrified shock.
Her elaborate victim story was completely destroyed in seconds.
"Mrs. Margaret Carter and Lucas Carter, do not move."
Officer Davis commanded in a stern, booming voice.
"You are both under arrest for domestic physical abuse."
"And endangerment of a pregnant female and child."
Lucas panicked, trying to bolt for the rear door.
The second police officer grabbed his arm, twisting back.
Lucas groaned in pain, forced down onto marble.
Cold steel handcuffs clicked tightly around his wrists fast.
"Get off me! I am a Carter!" Lucas.
Officer Davis grabbed Margaret's arms behind her cream silk.
Steel cuffs ratcheted shut around her thin wrists.
Margaret let out a piercing, blood-curdling shriek of.
"Daniel! Tell them to stop! I am mother!"
I looked at her with complete, unyielding coldness.
