Chapter 9 - The Lawyer's Intervention
The police officers forced Margaret and Lucas toward door.
Their cuffed hands were held tightly behind their backs.
As they reached the heavy oak front door steps,
A sleek black Mercedes pulled into the driveway fast.
A man in an expensive gray suit stepped out.
It was Arthur Vance, Margaret's private family attorney.
He carried a thick leather document folder in hand.
Arthur Vance walked up the marble steps with authority.
"Hold on right there, Officer Davis!" Arthur shouted.
He stepped between the police officers and Margaret Carter.
He pulled an official paper document from his briefcase.
"I am Attorney Arthur Vance representing the family today."
"I have an emergency court injunction signed this morning."
"My client Margaret Carter holds full legal power attorney."
"Any police arrest on this property is legally invalid!"
Lucas let out a loud sigh of sweet, relief.
He wiped sweat from his face, grinning at me.
"I told you, big brother! You cannot beat!"
Arthur Vance looked at me with smug, arrogant condescension.
"Daniel, your mother holds legal management over this estate."
"Removing her from the property violates property law."
"I suggest you drop these false charges immediately now."
I stood on the marble steps with calm strength.
I did not show a single shred of fear.
I pulled a secondary document from my navy suit.
I handed the paper straight to Officer Davis's hands.
"Read the master deed on that paper, Officer," I.
Officer Davis scanned the top lines of white paper.
"The master deed was transferred to Daniel last month."
Officer Davis announced, looking up at the lawyer coldly.
"Margaret holds zero legal ownership over this property."
"Her injunction is completely void under state real estate."
Arthur Vance's smug expression froze completely in place.
His jaw dropped as he realized his legal maneuver failed.
"Furthermore, Arthur," I stepped closer to the attorney.
"You notarized those fraudulent wire transfer documents yesterday."
