Chapter 10 - ROBERT’S BARGAIN
Robert admitted he approved Dominic’s courtship.
Nathan promised to return stolen Sterling assets if the families merged through marriage.
Robert knew Dominic was my biological son.
He did not know Dominic had learned the truth.
He treated Clara’s future as a corporate settlement.
He said:
“I thought he would protect her.”
Clara answered:
“You never asked me.”
Robert had also signed the surgery authorization used to collect her eggs.
He claimed it was for medical preservation.
The forms said reproductive use.
He had not read them carefully.
Carelessness at that level became complicity.
Then Richard—the other twin—provided evidence that Robert helped Nathan fake his death.
The brothers turned on each other.
Police arrested Robert for conspiracy and medical fraud.
Richard remained missing.
Nathan remained missing.
Dominic remained free.
Then Margaret Sterling, my ninety-year-old mother, called from hospice.
She said:
