Chapter 6 - THE FIRST HEARING
Melissa asked the court for temporary protections.
Not ownership transfer.
We already had title evidence.
We sought to prevent additional borrowing or transfer while litigation proceeded.
The judge entered temporary restrictions based on the disputed documents and pending claims.
The $350,000 loan died.
Vanessa blamed me.
She called from a new number after I blocked hers.
“You destroyed my company.”
“No.”
“You stopped the financing.”
“Yes.”
“Same thing.”
“No.”
Silence.
Then:
“Mom wanted to help me.”
“Mom says she did not know the loan existed.”
“She forgets.”
“Doctors disagree.”
“You poisoned her against me.”
I ended the call.
The company entered insolvency proceedings two months later.
Employees were paid through available assets where possible.
Vendors filed claims.
The landlord took possession of the commercial space.
No dramatic sheriff locking doors while Vanessa screamed.
Businesses fail administratively.
Paperwork.
Deadlines.
Liquidation.
