Chapter 1 - The Kitchen Assault

The scalding dark coffee hit my bare face violently.
Boiling hot liquid splashed across my cheeks and chin.
Immense burning pain throbbed through my sensitive skin immediately.
I recoiled in agonizing shock, clutching my burned face.
My soft white knit sweater was completely ruined today.
Dark brown stains spread fast across the clean cotton.
My hair tumbled loosely from its neat bun hairstyle.
Vanessa stood over my chair in her beige dress.
Her glamorous face was twisted into pure arrogant rage.
"Stop being so selfish!" Vanessa screamed at my face.
She slammed the heavy ceramic mug onto marble counter.
Her long manicured nails reached into my leather purse.
She aggressively snatched my black corporate credit card out.
My facial skin throbbed with intense red heat.
I wiped dark hot liquid away from eyes fast.
I looked up at my older sister through tears.
"Give me my card back," I whispered very sternly.
My voice trembled, but my eyes remained lethal steel.
Vanessa tucked my black credit card into her dress.
She sneered down at me with pure entitled disgust.
Across the bright sunlit kitchen, my parents sat watching.
My mother Linda wore a crisp white silk blouse.
She folded her arms calmly over her chest area.
She looked at my burned face with cold disappointment.
My father Robert sat quietly in his blue shirt.
He stared down at his breakfast plate without speaking.
He refused to meet my desperate, tear-filled eyes today.
"Family helps family, Claire," Linda announced icy cold.
"Your sister needs that money for her boutique launch."
"You earn more than enough cash at your firm."
"Stop causing a dramatic scene over a little coffee."
My mother defended my sister's violent assault without hesitation.
She justified the shameless theft of my private property.
They treated me like an endless cash supply machine.
They believed my quiet silence meant total weak submission.
I wiped my wet cheeks with my sweater sleeve.
I did not scream back or throw a punch.
I stood up slowly from the kitchen bar stool.
I grabbed my car keys from the marble counter.
I turned my back on my family without speaking.
I walked out into the bright morning sunlight outside.
They thought they had won another bitter family fight.

They had no idea what was coming next today.
