Chapter 7 - Public Exposure

Linda looked around at the staring corporate employees nervously.
She tried to lower her voice to a whisper.
"Claire, we are your family! Do not do!"
"You threw hot coffee in my face two hours,"
I said, gesturing to the dark red burns skin.
Vanessa sneered, stepping closer to my personal space.
"You deserved that coffee, you selfish little bitch!"
"You have millions while I am struggling to launch!"
"You owe us that money for everything we did!"
I pulled my smartphone from my jacket pocket fast.
I tapped a wireless media connection to lobby speakers.
I played an audio recording captured by home security.
The kitchen security system audio echoed across the lobby:
Vanessa's voice: "Stop being so selfish!"
Sound of coffee splashing, followed by my painful gasp.
Linda's voice: "Family helps family, Claire."
"She needs that money for her boutique launch today."
The crystal-clear audio played for fifty employees to hear.
Gasps erupted across the crowded marble lobby space today.
People stared at Linda and Vanessa with utter disgust.
Security guard Marcus stepped forward with two armed guards.
"Mrs. Morgan, you need to leave this property now."
"Or we will arrest you for trespassing and assault."
Vanessa's jaw hung open in total, speechless horror.
Linda covered her face with her leather handbag, ashamed.
Their public reputation was destroyed in front of everyone.
"You... you recorded us inside our own house?"
"I record every threat made against me, Linda," I.
"Now get out of my office building right now."
Marcus escorted the two screaming women out front doors.
The heavy glass doors slammed shut behind their backs.
I turned around, walking back toward the private elevator.
