Chapter 12 - MY OWN CONSEQUENCE

Derek also reported me for striking him.
I had expected it.
Multiple witnesses saw it.
I did not lie.
“Yes. I slapped him.”
My attorney could have emphasized provocation.
Khloe’s disclosure.
My fear.
The confrontation.
All relevant.
None changed the physical act.
The matter was resolved proportionately without some ridiculous punishment.
I accepted the legal consequence imposed and completed an anger-management course voluntarily.
Veronica did the same after I chose to document her slap rather than pretend it had never happened.
She was furious initially.
Then surprised when I said:
“I reported mine too.”
“You reported yourself?”
“I told the truth when asked.”
She stared at me.
That became part of our repair.
Nobody got a family exemption.
Not Derek.
May you like
Not Veronica.
Not me.
