Linda was charged with unlawful confinement, child endangerment, evidence tampering, financial fraud, elder exploitation, and conspiracy.
Rachel faced unlawful confinement, assault, child endangerment, obstruction, financial fraud, and falsification of medical billing.
The video evidence prevented both women from blaming the other completely.
Linda had designed the pressure.
Rachel had carried it out.
Thomas’s recordings proved the financial motive.
The neighbor’s footage proved their movements.
Rachel’s hidden camera proved the shed abuse.
The hospital scene revealed consciousness of guilt.
“Why is he awake?”
That single sentence showed Rachel expected Eli to remain unable to identify her.
“What camera?”
Her second question showed she knew evidence existed.
Detective Harris later testified that the women’s reactions helped investigators understand they feared different recordings.
Linda’s defense argued that she only wanted to protect family assets.
The prosecutor answered:
“She protected stolen money by treating a child as an obstacle.”
Rachel claimed she acted under lifelong emotional control.
The prosecutor acknowledged Linda’s manipulation.
Then he showed Rachel returning to the shed with the key in her hand.
“She had the power to open the door every time.”
The jury watched in silence.
