Chapter 10 - The Guard Who Remembered

The witness was an older correctional officer.

He had been there the night I arrived.

He remembered something unusual.

Warden Mitchell personally handled my intake.

That never happened.

The guard admitted he was afraid.

“He told everyone you were dangerous.”

I looked at him.

“Before my trial?”

He nodded.

Before the evidence.

Before the verdict.

The warden had already decided who I was.

Then the guard gave me one final piece.

A hidden report.

A report showing evidence had been removed from my case file.
