Chapter 10 - The Choice Anthony Could Not Make

The sirens grew louder.

Samuel asked the question nobody else would.

“What do we do with the files?”

Vincent looked at the black case.

The evidence implicated corrupt officers, rival organizations and members of his own crew.

It also documented crimes Vincent had committed.

Some directly.

Some through orders he had convinced himself were necessary.

If he surrendered everything, he could lose his freedom.

If he destroyed it, Daniel Russo would remain a traitor in the public record and Marcus might eventually escape through old government protections.

Elena watched him.

“My father said Anthony could never choose between protecting his sons and telling the truth.”

Vincent looked at Marcus.

“What did that cost him?”

“His life,” Elena replied.

Marcus smiled faintly.

“He will choose blood.”

Vincent walked toward the fireplace.

He removed his signet ring.

The Torino crest had belonged to his grandfather.

His father.

Then him.

He placed it inside the black case.

Marcus’s smile disappeared.

“What are you doing?”

Vincent closed the lid.

“Ending the inheritance.”

He handed the case to Elena.

“Give it to them.”

Marcus lunged.

Samuel caught him and forced him against the wall.

Vincent did not look away.

“You would destroy everything Father built?” Marcus shouted.

“No. I am admitting what he built was already destroyed.”

Elena held the case tightly.

“You understand what is in here?”

“Yes.”

“You may be arrested.”

“Yes.”

Marcus stared at him in disbelief.

Vincent had finally done what Anthony’s final phrase predicted.

The crown belonged to the man who refused it.

Federal vehicles stopped outside.

Heavy footsteps entered the mansion.

Vincent ordered the two intruders to place their weapons on the floor.

Then he removed his own pistol and set it beside them.

Elena looked at him.

“Why trust me?”

“I don’t.”

“Then why give me the evidence?”

“Because you had every reason to shoot Marcus and chose the truth instead.”

Agents entered the bedroom with weapons raised.

Vincent lifted his empty hands.

Marcus began shouting about immunity.

The lead agent ignored him.

Elena placed the case on the bed.

“This contains everything.”

The agent opened it.

Then he looked directly at Vincent.

“Mr. Torino, are you surrendering voluntarily?”

Vincent glanced at Marcus.

May you like

“Yes.”

👉 Vincent gave up his empire—but Elena had kept one final message from her father that could change what happened to him.
