The unauthorized login belonged to Dr. Natalie Reed.
She immediately surrendered her credentials for review.
The access occurred while she was in surgery elsewhere.
Someone had cloned her identity.
Hospital cameras showed a masked woman entering the records office wearing Dr. Reed’s badge.
Her build, posture, and eyes looked almost identical.
Dr. Reed revealed a secret.
She had a younger sister named Evelyn.
Evelyn disappeared after working at one of Margaret’s clinics.
The family assumed she died.
No certificate existed.
Another erased woman.
Evelyn had likely been forced to use Natalie’s identity for years.
Ortiz traced the forged credentials to a Carter research facility in Maine.
Federal agents found Evelyn alive.
She had helped maintain medical records in exchange for protection from prosecution and access to her own stolen son.
Victim and participant.
Both facts mattered.
Evelyn surrendered the location of Margaret’s final property.
An abandoned birthing center near the Texas coast.
Agents arrived.
They found no Margaret.
Only rooms prepared for multiple deliveries and a wall covered with photographs of Lily, Noah, Rose, and my unborn child.
Each child had a value assigned beside their name.
Medical.
Legal.
Financial.
The system measured human beings by usefulness.
Evelyn gave prosecutors the final evidence needed to convict Daniel and Margaret.
But she warned that Margaret had one more plan.
She intended to appear at my delivery disguised as hospital staff.
Not to take the baby.
To replace her.
A second newborn, genetically unrelated, had been prepared.
