Rebecca Sloan reconstructed the night Caroline signed.
Security footage showed her staggering.
Toxicology from archived blood samples confirmed sedation.
An audio file captured Lenora promising to release Jonah if Caroline signed the blank page.
She signed to save her child.
The defense called it consent.
The prosecution called it extortion.
The jury agreed.
Lenora was convicted of child abuse, kidnapping, conspiracy, attempted murder, fraud, and obstruction.
Samuel and Thomas were convicted of illegal human experimentation, assault, kidnapping, falsification, and conspiracy.
Judge Vale was convicted of corruption.
Hospital administrators and security officers faced separate trials.
The Vale Foundation’s assets were seized.
Treatment patents entered public control.
The surviving children received lifelong independent care.
Julian began physical therapy.
Some fractures healed.
Some left permanent weakness.
He hated being called brave.
“I didn’t choose it,” he said.
I stopped using the word.
Jonah moved into a therapeutic home near us before deciding whether he wanted to live with Caroline and me.
He visited often.
He and Julian argued about the red airplane within a week.
That felt healthy.
Gabriel needed more distance.
He spoke to me through supervised calls.
Sometimes he hung up after thirty seconds.
Sometimes he stayed for an hour.
I did not demand progress on my schedule.
Caroline recovered slowly.
We did not pretend three stolen years could disappear.
We started again as two people meeting after grief, anger, and survival.
The fetus in the artificial chamber continued developing.
The court asked us to choose a name for medical records.
Caroline chose Hope.
I agreed.
Hope was delivered safely at thirty-four weeks.

Jonah said, “So were you.”
Gabriel watched on video but said nothing.

I expected another donor fraud.
