Chapter 12 - LUCY’S BIRTHDAY
Lucy turned thirteen inside a protected courthouse.
Arthur appeared by live stream from the cemetery, standing beside Claire’s open grave.
He held Rachel’s passport and April’s adoption file.
“Give me the trust,” he said, “or the girls lose every name they have.”
Lucy looked at Rose.
Then at me.
“I don’t want the trust.”
She transferred her future authority into an independent fund for all three sisters and other children harmed by identity fraud.
Rachel transferred her medical trust too.
April’s church land entered public stewardship.
Arthur lost every hostage built from inheritance.
Police arrested him at the grave.
He told Rachel to ask why Rose chose Lucy first.
Rose admitted she believed Rachel’s biological connection to Arthur made her vulnerable.
Protection had looked like unequal love.
