Chapter 12 - The Account in Gillian’s Name

In the parking garage, Priscilla showed Jasper the message from the bank.

Investigators had frozen Gillian’s personal accounts.

Her townhouse.

Her investment portfolio.

Even the trust she used to pay Priscilla’s expenses.

Gillian read the notice and turned on Jasper.

“You said the consulting payments were legal.”

“They were.”

“Then why are my assets frozen?”

“Because Hailey’s attorney is creating panic.”

Priscilla stared at her banking app.

“My credit cards aren’t working.”

Jasper ignored her.

Gillian grabbed his arm.

“Fix this.”

“I just lost the company.”

“Because you failed to control your wife.”

He pulled away.

“I lost it because you forged her signature on camera.”

“You told me to.”

“I told you to prepare the documents.”

“You said she would never know.”

Their voices echoed through the concrete garage.

Priscilla looked between them.

“You both knew?”

Gillian snapped, “Don’t pretend you were innocent. You moved the bag away from her yesterday.”

“That was lunch, not fraud.”

“You spent the money.”

Priscilla’s face changed.

For the first time, she understood that the lifestyle Jasper had provided was not wealth.

It was evidence.

Jasper walked toward his car.

His access key no longer worked.

The vehicle belonged to the company.

Security had disabled it.

He struck the roof with his palm.

Gillian watched him.

“What are we supposed to do now?”

Jasper laughed bitterly.

“Take the bus.”

The words silenced all three of them.

Only one day earlier, they had given Hailey the same answer while she held a newborn outside a hospital.

Now none of them found it amusing.

Priscilla stepped away.

“I’m getting my own lawyer.”

Gillian stared at her.

“You ungrateful little—”

“I’m not going down for you.”

“You were in the office.”

“I didn’t create the signature.”

“You helped access Hailey’s email.”

Priscilla’s face went pale.

Jasper looked at her.

“You did what?”

“Mom told me you needed the password.”

Gillian’s composure collapsed.

“Stop talking.”

But Priscilla had finally realized silence would not protect her.

It would protect Jasper and Gillian.

She called Naomi.

“I have information,” she said. “But I want immunity.”

At the hospital, Hailey listened while Naomi placed the call on speaker.

Priscilla revealed that Gillian had kept copies of every intercepted letter Charles sent.

She stored them in a locked cabinet at Hailey’s house.

She also revealed that Jasper had installed monitoring software on Hailey’s phone.

Every call.

Every location.

Every message.

All accessible from Jasper’s laptop.

Hailey felt violated all over again.

Then Priscilla added one final detail.

“Jasper knew Hailey was being discharged yesterday morning. He moved the family lunch earlier on purpose.”

“Why?” Naomi asked.

“So she would have no ride. He wanted her frightened before asking her to sign the new guarantee.”

Hailey closed her eyes.

The abandonment had not been impulsive.

May you like

It had been pressure.

👉 Hailey now knew Jasper had deliberately stranded her—but proving the plan required recovering the message he ordered Priscilla to delete.
