Chapter 10 - The Past Crime
My father walked up to Eleanor on porch.
He looked down at my weeping mother-in-law cold.
"We exhumed my late wife's body yesterday, Eleanor."
Eleanor's face turned ghost white in one second.
Her weeping stopped instantly as she froze completely.
"The toxicology report confirmed heavy arsenic poison," father stated.
"You were her private nurse twenty years ago."
"You poisoned my wife to marry into wealth."
Pure, paralyzing, freezing horror filled the entire entrance.
Eleanor had murdered my mother to take wealth.
She had systematically targeted my family for decades.
Officer Davis stepped beside Eleanor, pulling third handcuffs.
"Eleanor Hawthorne, you are under arrest for murder."
Steel cuffs ratcheted shut around her thin wrists.
