Chapter 9 - Handcuffs in the Rain
Four police officers marched up the marble stairs.
Officer Davis pulled heavy steel handcuffs from belt.
"Adrian Hawthorne and Vanessa Reed, do not move."
"You are under arrest for grand corporate theft."
"You are also charged with federal wire fraud."
Officer Davis grabbed Adrian's wrist, twisting back hard.
Cold steel handcuffs clicked shut around his wrists.
Adrian groaned in pain, forced down onto knees.
The wet marble floor soaked his dark trousers.
Vanessa screamed hysterically as another officer cuffed her.
Her black cocktail dress was ruined by rain.
"Adrian! Do something! Call your corporate lawyers!"
"His lawyers were arrested twenty minutes ago," Miller stated.
