Ethan was released after serving part of his sentence and completing a court-ordered abuse intervention program.
He wrote Maya one letter.
No excuses.
No request for reconciliation.
He admitted he had read the occupancy agreement only after his arrest.
The clause he mocked had been written in plain language.
He had initialed it while thinking only about the property value.

You were right. I signed it. I never read it because I never believed the rules could apply to me.
Maya did not answer.
Forgiveness was not access.
Remorse did not restore a marriage.
Months later, Ethan attended Beatrice’s sentencing.
She received a lengthy prison term for the fraud, cover-up, and Samuel’s death.
Ethan listened as prosecutors described how she used him.
He cried.
