Chapter 10 - The Banker’s Camera

“You’re right,” I said. “The company registration alone isn’t enough.”

Sienna’s smile widened.

Then I tapped another file.

The phone displayed a security image from Pacific Coast Private Bank.

Sienna stood at a service counter wearing dark glasses and a scarf.

Beside her was Landon.

He carried my original estate deed.

The bank’s facial-recognition system had time-stamped the visit.

A second angle showed Sienna handing the officer my passport copy, medical power of attorney, and forged signature authorization.

Landon whispered, “You said those were temporary copies.”

She turned on him.

“Don’t do this here.”

“You told me Maya had already signed.”

“I told you what was necessary.”

The guests were no longer watching me.

They were watching them.

Their perfect wedding portrait was separating down the middle.

I played an audio clip from the bank officer’s desk.

Sienna’s voice came through clearly.

“Once the emergency petition is approved, my husband will control the trust.”

The officer asked, “Your husband?”

Sienna laughed.

“He will be by Sunday.”

Landon’s face changed.

He had known about the theft.

He had known about the false petition.

But he had not known Sienna was presenting herself as the person controlling him.

Or that she planned to treat him as a tool rather than a partner.

I looked at him.

“You weren’t her beneficiary.”

He swallowed.

“The application says I was.”

“The public application does.”

Evelyn stepped from among the guests.

She had attended quietly in a wide-brimmed hat, appearing to be an older family acquaintance.

Now she opened a leather folder.

“The private succession instructions name Sienna as sole owner of Pacific Heritage Management if Landon dies, divorces her, or becomes legally incapacitated.”

Landon stared at Sienna.

“What did you do?”

Sienna’s bouquet shook.

“That clause was for protection.”

“Protection from whom?”

“From everyone trying to take this away from us!”

“This?” I asked.

She turned toward me, eyes blazing.

“The life you never deserved.”

There it was.

Not love.

Not desperation.

Envy.

Years of smiling beside me while resenting every room I entered.

Every opportunity I gave her.

Every kindness she interpreted as proof that I was too soft to defend myself.

Then Evelyn placed another document in Landon’s hand.

It was a life insurance policy.

Sienna had purchased it three weeks earlier.

The insured person was Landon.

The beneficiary was Pacific Heritage Management.

The payout was five million dollars.

👉 Landon finally understood that Sienna had not merely used him to steal Maya’s estate—she had created a plan that became more profitable if he did not survive the marriage.
