Chapter 11 - The Bride’s Second Plan

Landon read the policy twice.
His fingers began to tremble.
“You insured me?”
Sienna’s expression twisted.
“It was a business requirement.”
“For five million dollars?”
“You’re letting her manipulate you.”
“She didn’t sign this. You did.”
“I was protecting our future!”
“Our future or yours?”
Sienna’s composure shattered.
She grabbed the insurance document and tore it in half.
The sound echoed through the garden.
Evelyn did not react.
“That was a copy.”
Several guests stepped away from Sienna.
Even Margaret looked horrified.
I had expected satisfaction.
Instead, I felt something colder.
Landon had helped create the weapon now pointed at him.
That did not make him innocent.
It made him careless.
“You planned to have me declared unstable,” I said. “Then you would control the trust.”
Landon looked sick.
“I never intended to keep you confined.”
“But you signed the petition.”
“I thought it would last a few days.”
“A few days without my freedom?”
His eyes dropped.
Sienna seized the opening.
“He was the one who suggested using your grief messages.”
Landon looked up sharply.
“You contacted Cole first.”
“Because you said Maya would never give you control!”
“You said nobody would be hurt.”
I almost laughed.
They had planned to steal my money, take my home, destroy my reputation, and drug me in front of witnesses.
Yet each wanted to believe the other had invented the cruelty.
The officiant quietly closed his book.
“There will be no ceremony,” he said.
Sienna spun toward him.
“You were paid.”
“Not to participate in fraud.”
She looked around for support.
No one met her eyes.
Then she reached toward her pearl earring.
“This is all because she can’t stand seeing me wear what should have been mine.”
“What should have been yours?” I asked.
“My grandmother loved me too.”
The words stopped me.
“My grandmother barely knew you.”
Sienna’s face changed.
For the first time, her anger looked personal rather than strategic.
“She knew my mother.”
My father, who had arrived in a wheelchair with Rosa moments earlier, spoke from the back of the aisle.
“Yes,” he said. “Eleanor knew exactly who your mother was.”
Sienna went completely still.
My father held the sealed blue envelope from my grandmother’s safe.

“And that is why she wrote this letter.”
👉 Sienna had spent years believing Maya’s grandmother had cheated her family—but Eleanor’s letter contained the truth about the debt Sienna’s mother had hidden.
