The file listed donor C-117.
My goal was to identify him.
The intake form said Robert Carter.
My father.
For several seconds, no one spoke.
The lab director immediately said the record could not be accurate.
If Dad were Caleb’s biological father, the result would be obvious.
An independent test proved he was not.
The donor record was another falsification.
A weapon.
If I fought Amber, Nathan could reveal a false incestuous fertility scandal and destroy my credibility.
The database history showed C-117 had originally been N-117.
Original identity:
Noah Vale.
Nathan’s younger brother.
Noah died twenty years earlier in a car crash.
His sperm had been banked before death.
Nathan used it in my procedure without consent.
That made Caleb biologically related to Nathan.
A nephew.
And connected to Amber through Nathan’s family line.
Then Noah’s estate file changed everything.
He had left forty million dollars to any biological male child produced from preserved genetic material.
Caleb activated it.
Nathan had manufactured an heir using his dead brother’s sperm.
Amber wanted custody because the estate could be managed only through a recognized Vale family guardian.
Then the estate file revealed the first child created from Noah’s preserved sample was not Caleb.
