Chapter 6 - THE SECOND RACHEL

The second woman’s name was Claire Dawson.

She resembled Rachel naturally and underwent cosmetic procedures to strengthen the match.

Marcus used Claire to sign documents, appear on cameras, and create alibis.

If Rachel needed to be seen at dinner, Claire entered the bank.

If Rachel needed to sign a medical form, Claire wore her dress and jewelry.

The red gown in the kitchen had been selected because both women owned identical copies.

Rachel insisted she had never agreed to the impersonation.

Then Claire surrendered.

She produced contracts bearing Rachel’s signature.

Rachel had recruited her.

The two women shared the role.

One publicly.

One privately.

Claire revealed that the Rachel who attacked me might not have been Marcus’s legal wife.

Forensic comparison of the kitchen footage showed a small scar near the woman’s left wrist.

Claire had that scar.

Rachel did not.

The woman encouraging Marcus to hit me was Claire.

The real Rachel had been at a hotel preparing their escape.

Both were guilty.

But the recorded crime belonged to Claire.

The distinction mattered.

Identity could not become a shortcut around evidence.

Then Claire gave police the hotel room number.

Rachel was gone.

Inside the room they found my jewelry, passports, and a plane ticket under the name Evelyn Carter.

Rachel planned to leave the country using my identity after I was declared incompetent.

She had not only wanted my money.

May you like

She wanted my legal life.
