Emergency lights turned on.
Dim.
Cold.
The mansion felt different.
Like a trap.
Vanessa moved toward the hallway.
I blocked her.
“Where are you going?”
She smiled.
“Leaving.”
“No.”
Her confidence returned.
“You still think this is your house.”
That sentence stayed with me.
Because she believed ownership came from control.
Not loyalty.
Elena checked the security system.
“It’s been overridden.”
By who?
We already knew.
My brother.
The cameras went offline one by one.
Except one.
The hallway camera.
The same one Vanessa forgot about.
The red light blinked.
Recording.
She saw it.
Her expression changed.
Fear.
Finally.
I raised the flash drive.
“You forgot one thing.”
“What?”
“People who think they control everything always leave something behind.”
Then the front gate alarm activated.
Someone was outside.
Not police.
