Chapter 12 - Trinity Chooses a Side

Adam turned toward Trinity.
“Think about the baby before you do something reckless.”
She stared at him.
“That is exactly what I am doing.”
“You need me.”
“No. You need me frightened.”
“You have no income.”
“I have family.”
“You told me you were estranged from them.”
“I called my sister this morning.”
Adam’s expression tightened.
Trinity had not told him that.
She continued.
“She knows everything I knew before this flight. Now I’ll tell her the rest.”
Adam lowered his voice.
“If you cooperate with corporate investigators, they will blame you.”
Dakota stepped closer.
“Not if she provides evidence voluntarily.”
“You are not an attorney.”
“No, but the attorney waiting in Paris already offered her independent counsel.”
Trinity looked at Dakota.
“You arranged that?”
“I asked the investigator to prepare for the possibility that you were being used.”
Trinity’s face folded with emotion.
Only hours earlier, she had boarded believing Dakota was a jealous wife who had betrayed Adam first.
Now that same woman had protected her before knowing whether she deserved it.
“Why would you help me?” Trinity asked.
Dakota’s answer was quiet.
“Because you are pregnant, frightened, and sitting beside a man who benefits when we hate each other.”
Adam’s jaw tightened.
“This performance is unbelievable.”
Trinity removed a second phone from her handbag.
Adam stared.
“What is that?”
“A backup.”
She had purchased it after Melissa repeatedly warned her that Dakota might track her primary phone.
Now it contained every message Melissa sent.
Every instruction.
Every promise that Adam would leave his wife.
Trinity handed it to Dakota.
“Give this to the investigator.”
Adam rose again.
The purser immediately ordered him to sit.
He did, but his calm was gone.

Sweat darkened his collar.
👉 The backup phone contained a photograph of a document Adam never expected Trinity to keep.
