Chapter 7 - The Man in the Screenshots

Trinity opened her handbag and pulled out her phone.
Adam lunged toward the aisle.
“Do not show her private conversations.”
The senior flight attendant stepped between them.
“Sir, remain seated.”
Adam’s chest rose and fell.
He sat down slowly.
Trinity searched through her photos.
“He said this man was your supervisor.”
Dakota looked at the screenshot.
The messages appeared to show her arranging secret hotel meetings with a man named Marcus Reed.
There was only one problem.
Marcus Reed was not Dakota’s supervisor.
He was Calderon Aerospace’s chief financial officer.
Dakota handed the phone back.
“I have never met him.”
Trinity stared at Adam.
“You told me Marcus caught you two together.”
Adam rubbed his forehead.
“It was complicated.”
“No,” Dakota said. “It was strategic.”
The company investigator had mentioned Marcus during their first phone call.
Marcus had approved several suspicious payments connected to Adam’s vendors.
He had also resisted an internal audit.
Dakota had assumed Marcus was helping Adam.
Now she understood why Adam used his name in the fabricated affair.
If the scheme collapsed, Adam could claim Marcus had framed him out of jealousy.
Trinity scrolled farther.
“There are voice messages too.”
Adam’s head lifted.
“What voice messages?”
“You sent them to me.”
“I never sent voice messages about Marcus.”
Trinity pressed play.
Adam’s recorded voice filled the small space between them.
“Dakota has been sleeping with him for almost a year. I stayed because I believed marriage meant something.”
Dakota’s breath caught.
The passengers closest to them heard every word.
Adam’s face twisted with panic.
Trinity stopped the recording.
“You made yourself sound heartbroken.”
Adam reached for her phone.
She pulled it against her chest.
Dakota looked at the audio date.

It had been recorded the same night Adam came home with flowers and told her she was the only person he trusted.
👉 Then Dakota noticed a second voice hidden beneath Adam’s recording—someone was coaching him on exactly what to say.
