Chapter 10 - THE BOARDROOM TRIAL

Andrews Development held an emergency board meeting while I remained hospitalized.

My voting shares could determine whether the company entered federal receivership or remained under family control.

Vivian attempted to vote through a forged proxy.

Garrett claimed spousal authority.

Grant submitted another proxy carrying my signature.

Three documents.

Three different dates.

All false.

I attended by secure video.

My voice remained weak.

The evidence was not.

I revoked every proxy publicly.

I voted for federal receivership, independent audits, and release of all Vale property records.

The board chairman asked whether I understood the company might collapse.

“Yes.”

Thousands of employees could lose jobs.

Projects could stop.

Pensions could suffer.

The network had hidden behind innocent people’s dependence.

I approved a protected restructuring fund using my remaining trust assets.

Not perfect.

Enough to separate workers from the family’s crimes.

Power transferred for the first time without Garrett, Vivian, Eleanor, or my parents making the choice.

The board voted with me.

Garrett watched from custody.

His face remained expressionless until the chairman removed the Andrews name from the company.

Then he struck the table.

The identity mattered more than the money.

Rebecca Sloan testified before the board about the guardianship fraud.

She accepted suspension from practice pending review.

My father testified about signing the original trust amendment.

My mother testified about the gala plan.

Neither was excused because their intention was protection.

Transparency replaced family loyalty.

Then the federal trial began.

Garrett, Vivian, Dr. Vale, Judge Andrews, and company executives faced conspiracy charges.

Grant remained missing.

Eleanor entered a cooperation agreement but faced charges for kidnapping Caroline, unlawful surveillance, and reckless endangerment related to the gala.

Caroline testified first.

She described two husbands with one face.

A marriage sealed inside guardianship.

Years of being told no one wanted her.

My mother watched from the gallery.

No dramatic reunion followed.

Caroline requested space.

Mother honored it.

I testified from the hospital.

Garrett’s attorney asked whether I could identify which twin pushed me.

“No.”

He smiled.

“Then you cannot say my client assaulted you.”

“I can say he arranged it.”

The office recording played.

Scare her.

You know I don’t stop when they fight.

That’s why I sent you.

The jury heard command and action as separate parts of one crime.

The defense tried to call me confused.

Then the prosecutor displayed Garrett’s psychiatric script written before my fall.

Every insult had been prepared.

The room understood that my supposed confusion was evidence of his planning.

Then Grant entered the courthouse voluntarily.

He carried no weapon.

He carried Sophie’s original birth certificate.

He said, “I’m ready to tell them which brother did what.”

Garrett’s face changed.

Not fear.

May you like

Hatred.

Grant had come to destroy the only identity his twin still possessed.
