Chapter 8 - ELEANOR’S REVENGE

Eleanor contacted me through the ICU television.
Her face appeared above the dark screen.
Same eyes as my mother.
Different smile.
She admitted installing the camera and planning the gala exposure.
She denied poisoning me.
“The drug was meant for Garrett.”
“How did it enter my IV?”
“Someone changed the lines.”
“Who?”
“Vivian.”
Eleanor claimed Vivian entered the ICU disguised as a volunteer before police arrived.
Security footage showed an elderly woman pushing flowers through the corridor.
Her face remained hidden.
She paused outside my room for eleven seconds.
That was enough to switch two labeled syringes Rebecca had prepared as evidence.
Eleanor’s plan had included drugging Garrett?
Rebecca stared at the screen.
“I prepared no syringe.”
Eleanor smiled.
“Then Vivian wants us to believe I did.”
Every answer created another layer.
I stopped asking who controlled the plan.
I asked what evidence could stand independently.
Hospital fingerprints.
Medication records.
Camera timestamps.
DNA from the IV port.
The sample matched Vivian Andrews.
She had poisoned the line.
Eleanor’s accusation was true.
But why risk contacting us?
Because she wanted Vivian arrested before Grant killed her.
Eleanor’s revenge required a public trial.
Grant wanted to destroy everyone privately.
Garrett wanted the crimes blamed on his twin.
Vivian wanted both sons protected.
Each family member competed over the same network.
Eleanor offered Vivian’s location in exchange for immunity.
Ortiz refused.
She offered witness protection and consideration, not erasure.
Eleanor accepted.
The location was an unfinished Andrews luxury tower downtown.
Its basement connected to a Vale medical tunnel.
Federal agents entered.
Vivian waited inside the penthouse conference room with company records and a detonator.
She threatened to destroy the server rooms beneath the building.
Grant stood beside her.
Eleanor appeared through another entrance.
The twins faced their mother’s rival.
Three decades of betrayal arrived in one room.
I watched through a secure feed from the ICU.
Vivian called Eleanor ungrateful.
Eleanor called Vivian a thief.
Grant called both women architects.
Then he revealed the final truth.
Vivian had not taken Caroline from my mother.
Eleanor had.
She believed my mother was too weak to protect the first child.
She secretly transferred Caroline to Vale Recovery, planning to raise her as evidence against Vivian later.
Vivian discovered the transfer and took control.
My aunt created the opening.
Vivian exploited it.
Caroline’s entire life began as one sister judging another.
My mother stared at Eleanor on the screen.
“You took my baby?”
Eleanor’s composure broke.
“I was trying to keep her away from Evelyn.”
“You gave her to Vivian.”
“I didn’t know.”
“You decided.”
That one word silenced every excuse.
Federal agents disarmed the detonator after Grant provided the code.
Vivian was arrested.
Eleanor surrendered.
Grant escaped through the medical tunnel.
The server archive survived.
Inside were files on hundreds of women.
One carried my name.
STATUS: PHASE TWO COMPLETE.
The gala and ICU exposure were not the end of my case.
May you like
They were phase two of a larger experiment.
Phase three was labeled MATERNAL TRANSFER.
