The school board meeting was packed.
Parents.
Teachers.
Students.
Everyone who had been silent was finally watching.
Richard arrived confident.
But nobody looked away anymore.

Denial.
Anger.
Threats.
Promises.
Nothing worked.
Then Lily walked forward.
My daughter was still scared.
But she stood.
That mattered more than anything.
“I was afraid of him,” she said.
Richard looked shocked.
Not because she spoke.
