Chapter 7 - The Man Trevor Buried

Trevor denied knowing Richard was alive.
Linda claimed the video was digitally created.
But her reaction in court had already been recorded.
She looked terrified before Richard named the facility.
Police detained her for questioning.
Trevor remained free because no evidence connected him directly to the attack.
Rebecca was discharged under strict medical supervision and moved into Daniel’s house across the street.
Her own home had become a crime scene.
Detective Ruiz searched the rehabilitation facility.
Two guards had been injured.
Security footage showed a medical transport van entering with forged documents.
Richard left in a wheelchair.
He appeared conscious.
One frame showed him turning toward the camera and raising two fingers.
Daniel recognized the gesture.
“It was our childhood signal,” he said. “It means he chose to go.”
Rebecca stared at him.
“Why would he leave willingly?”
“He may have recognized someone inside the van.”
The arrested attacker from the cabin finally agreed to talk.
His name was Paul Mercer, a former Northstar security contractor.
He admitted Linda hired him to steal Richard’s documents.
But he claimed Trevor planned the facility extraction separately.
“Where did they take him?” Detective Ruiz asked.
Paul shook his head.
“Trevor doesn’t trust me with locations.”
“What does he want from Richard?”
“A new trust amendment.”
Richard’s survival created a problem.
If he publicly confirmed Rebecca’s innocence, Trevor and Linda would lose control of Northstar and face criminal charges.
They needed him to sign a statement declaring the old documents fraudulent.
Paul gave police the name of Trevor’s private pilot.
Flight records showed a plane scheduled to leave that evening for a country without an easy extradition process.
The passenger list contained Richard’s false name.
Police rushed to the private airport.
Rebecca remained with Sarah and Daniel.
Trevor called her minutes before officers reached the runway.
“You made this complicated.”
“Where is Richard?”
“Safe, as long as you cooperate.”
“What do you want?”
“You will sign the transfer documents. Then you will appear on camera and admit you created the allegations because you wanted my family’s money.”
“And after that?”
“You and the baby disappear from my life.”
Rebecca knew what disappear meant.
“You threatened to burn us alive.”
“You were never supposed to die in the garage.”
“Only after the baby was born?”
Trevor stayed silent.
Rebecca had activated the call recording.
She needed him to say more.
“You poisoned my medicine.”
“That was my mother’s mistake.”
“So Linda acted alone?”
His pride took control.
“Linda follows instructions. She always has.”
Rebecca closed her eyes.
There it was.
An admission.
Then Trevor’s voice softened.
“Look outside.”
Rebecca turned toward the window.
A black SUV sat across the street.
Daniel reached for his phone.
The SUV’s rear door opened.
Richard sat inside.
A gun was pressed beneath his chin.
Trevor spoke again.

“Bring the original trust documents to the old Northstar factory. Come alone, or my father dies for real this time.”
👉 Rebecca finally had Trevor’s confession, but saving Richard meant walking into the same family trap he had spent months preparing.
