Marlene’s attorney changed strategy.
Now she claimed Ava manipulated Ethan.
That Ava had become obsessed with finances.

The exterior camera caught her standing at the front door.

A small pink baby blanket.
Lily’s newborn blanket.
Marlene looked directly into the camera.
Then placed an envelope beneath it.
Ethan expected another threat.
Instead, the envelope contained a letter from his late father, Daniel Walker.
On the front:
FOR ETHAN — IF YOUR MOTHER EVER LOSES CONTROL.
Ethan went completely still.
