Chapter 6 - THE EIGHT MINUTES

The recovered video had no audio.
It did not need much.
2:43 p.m.
Bethany entered the corridor carrying my tablet.
Linda followed with the blue trust binder.
Robert opened his office door.
Sophie appeared twenty seconds later, chasing her balloon.
She stopped when she saw them.
Bethany looked toward Linda.
Linda bent down.
At first, it looked gentle.
Then she took Sophie by the upper arm.
Sophie pulled away.
Bethany grabbed the other arm.
The small circular bruises suddenly had a visual explanation.
Two hands.
Multiple fingers.
Pressure.
Robert looked down the corridor.
Not at Sophie.
Toward the garden entrance.
Watching for me.
Exactly as Sophie had shown Dr. Levin.
Then Bethany carried Sophie toward the bathroom.
Linda followed.
Robert remained by the office.
Thirty-seven seconds later, Linda returned alone.
Bethany returned two minutes later.
No Sophie.
She was still in the bathroom.
The camera angle could not see inside.
Then the office door opened.
Linda handed Bethany my tablet.
Bethany typed.
Robert placed papers on the scanner.
The scanner’s red indicator light came on.
Sophie’s “red light.”
Another detail corroborated.
Then Robert gave Linda something small.
My missing security key.
She inserted it into my tablet with an adapter.
The trust authorization path existed physically on video.
At 2:55, Robert walked toward the bathroom.
He returned ten seconds later.
Then pointed at the garden.
Bethany looked frightened.
I had probably entered the property.
At 2:57, Bethany rushed back toward the bathroom.
The recovered footage ended.
I found Sophie minutes later.
Rachel watched beside me.
“No one can call that an innocent paperwork meeting.”
I barely heard her.
My father had known my daughter was in that bathroom.
He had stood watch.
Then thrown a glass at me when I confronted them.
The emotional assumption I had still been carrying died.
Robert was not a father protecting his wife and daughter after seeing me slap Bethany.
He had already participated before I arrived.
Then came the information twist.
The video showed no one striking Sophie.
No visible punishment beyond the forceful gripping.
Bethany’s “I taught her a lesson” was still unexplained.
The cheek bruise may have happened inside the bathroom.
The camera could not show it.
We needed more.
Then the scanner records arrived.
Robert’s secure scanner stored filenames.
Eight documents scanned that afternoon.
Trust amendment.
Conflict waiver.
My passport.
Electronic-signature backup codes.
First Atlantic trust statement.
Sophie’s birth certificate.
Hannah’s death certificate.
And one file titled:
TEMPORARY GUARDIANSHIP.
I stopped breathing.
The money was only part of the plan.

My family had been preparing a document involving legal authority over Sophie herself.
📖 The recovered camera proved all three adults restrained Sophie while accessing my trust credentials, but the scanned guardianship document revealed they wanted more than her money. 👇
